With today being National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS awareness day, we wanted to share about our brilliant team and the wonderful work they do.

If you haven’t heard of it before, the Daughter’s of Naomi runs in both Mooni and Namatala, with 56 members. Each of these precious friends is living with a HIV diagnosis and our brilliant team runs a weekly support and savings groups to provide encouragement and foster friendships. If this wasn’t enough, Cate our brilliant social worker conducts 2 home visits each week, helping members with medications, medical appointments and often bringing small gifts of food and necessary hygiene supplies. The cost of basic medical care at a local clinic for these dear friends is also covered by our ‘Blessings’ pot.

With our belief that education is hugely important, the wonderful Jazzy and Cate work closely with our Community Health Promoters. Our CHPs share vital information about HIV prevention and treatment in our communities, particularly those in the hard-to-reach mountainous areas where there is limited access to schools and medical facilities. This aims to see a reduced number of HIV diagnosis’ and a higher quality of life for those already diagnosed.

Thank you so much to our wonderful team and to all our donors who make this vital work possible!
