Suubi House

A residential care program to restore young men from the streets and equip them to successfully reintegrate into society.

Birthed from the COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda, Suubi House is a rehabilitation home for young street men who have lived an impoverished lifestyle since birth. The newly built compound, set 2km away from the main town centre, is an enclosed dual-building home with 8 bedrooms and 32 beds. The most vulnerable street boys are identified and offered a two-year sponsored program of responsibility training, counselling, discipleship, English and Math tuition along with an intensive vocational apprenticeship that will give them the best chance of gaining a full time job upon graduation. An on-site nurse, project manager and four very qualified social workers gives each boy the best chance of transitioning back into society as contributing members. Reconciliation with their village is a key mandate in our project. More sponsors are welcome if you are seeking to make a difference in the life of a street child in Mbale!

Dan’s Story

I lived on the streets for over 11 years before Suubi House took me in and gave me a chance to have a future of my own. I used to be a drunkard and a thief but have completely changed my life over the last 2 years. I now own my own barbershop, pay my own rent in town and am responsible for my own financial management.

I love children and hope to get married in the next few years. Suubi has completely changed my life and I will be forever thankful for my sponsor who gave me hope and purpose again!
