On Saturday we were thrilled to be able to run our first-ever Careers guidance seminars for our sponsored students.

After two years of schools being closed, many students have struggled with the transition back to education. Throughout Uganda, students have been reluctant to return or unable to do so due to teenage pregnancies and other factors. Our team decided to run these seminars as an extra support for our students as they adjust to life back in school.

115 of our students, aged 8 to 25, were hosted on Saturday, with the aim of encouraging them in their studies. Brilliant speakers covered topics such as finding a profession that you would enjoy working towards, the importance of a supportive friendship group and life after college.

We’ve loved hearing from those who attended just how helpful these sessions were and how it has encouraged them to work hard at their studies in order to give themselves as many opportunities in the future as possible. We have already been able to assist two of our pupils who had left school due to early marriages over lockdown to enrol again so that they can complete their education. Isn’t that amazing?!

We can’t wait to see the impact that this day continues to have on our student’s futures as we monitor their progress and support them through their education journey.
