Today we would love to share about our Alpha programme. Some of you may know that Alpha is a course, run across the world, that explains the core beliefs of Christianity. In February we had the privilege of holding a training for 35 schools in Mbale. Each school was represented by one student and one teacher who would lead the Alpha programme within their school.

The aim is that these young people will start small groups in their schools, where they will lead and share this programme. In a country which is deeply religious, but where access to Bibles is very limited, it can mean that some religious leaders can use this lack of Biblical knowledge to misguide and manipulate many. The Alpha course sets out the basics of Christianity in a clear and understandable way, ensuring that those who attend have correct information and are therefore able to make fully informed decisions about their religious beliefs.

During this training, each school represented from our local communities was gifted a training manual and a Bible as well as training in how to properly run and lead the course in their own schools. These training days will run 4 times a year and our fantastic team will visit each of the schools, to encourage them as well as supporting the leaders as they lead these Alpha groups.

We are so excited about this programme because we really do believe through the knowledge, counselling and support it provides, it enables young people to make fully informed decisions about their beliefs.
