Every now and again, it's good to stop, take time out, and celebrate the work that has been completed. 🎉 Last Friday at North Road Primary School our Early Childhood Development Team did just that! 🙌
They hosted their second presentation ceremony, to celebrate with 130 Early Years Teachers from across the city who have been part of our Phonics programme. These teachers have been working hard to deliver the ‘Fun of Phonics' in their classrooms, helping to tackle the low literacy levels that has been a problem in many Ugandan schools. 📖✏️
Teachers for the very young work extremely hard to lay the important foundations for learning and so we wanted to acknowledge their work as well as celebrate their success.🤩❤️
We were thankful to the Principal Education Officer for Mbale City (picture 1&2) who was our Guest of Honour. Both her and our very own Executive Director, Mr Robby Keen greatly encouraged the teachers in their speeches.💞
We danced, we ate and we celebrated together, and a good time was had by all!🙌🎉

💖What a special day!💖
Thanks to a very generous donor, the regional juvenile detention centre where JENGA serves now has new beds and bedding! 🙌🏿🛏️🎉
We donated 40 bunk beds for the boys, plus 30 new mattresses, bedsheets, and blankets. When added to the 50 mattresses, bedsheets, and blankets we gave earlier this year, that's 80 complete beds for the boys!!🤩
The girls received 2 triple layered bunk beds plus 6 new mattresses, bedsheets, and blankets! ✨💗
It was wonderful to have Martin Williams, Chairman of JENGA UK, all the way from Canterbury, England for this very special presentation.🇬🇧🫱🏿🫲🏽🇺🇬

🫱🏿🫲🏽United in training!🫱🏿🫲🏽✨
Last week, Mbale City, in conjunction with JENGA and Tanaka , organised a refresher training for para-social workers for the Northern and Industrial City Divisions.
The training focused on child protection, children's rights, tracing and resettlement of children on the streets, strengthening systems for reporting and referring juvenile cases, and strategies to promote diversion of juvenile cases.💪🏽
Over the course of the two days 125 para social workers were trained!🎉 Training like this is so important for the community, as those positioned to help the young people best are equipped to do so. 💗
We are honoured to work with Mbale City to continue protecting and advocating for the young people in the community. And to champion and empower those who are there to help. 🙌🏿🤩 ... See MoreSee Less
